Parenting can present significant challenges, particularly for families experiencing stress and adversity. For many parents, responding to these demands may often seem overwhelming. This training provides an overview of the prevalence and impact of adversity and stress on family well-being and children’s early development. Through the use of trauma-informed strategies, participants are provided with strategies for assessing and supporting families at risk of toxic stress through the use of Motivational Interviewing and the advancement of protective factors.

This is a hybrid class with three components:

  1. Online Portion: This 1-hour class will be completed on this website. You will have access immediately upon registration (or within 24 hours if you are registering someone else). This portion of the training should ideally be completed before you attend Part 2.
  2. Part 2: You may attend either of the following sessions (you only need to attend one – not both)
    • In Person at CAA, March 6, 1:00 – 3:00
    • Virtual via Microsoft Teams: March 12, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. You will receive the link to the Teams meeting via email after registration.
  3. In-Person Portion: March 19, 2:00 – 4:00 pm: This 2-hour, in-person training will take place at 4C for Children: CoStars: 2100 Sherman Ave #300, Cincinnati, OH 45212.
